OUR FUTURE

Some of you will know that we are hoping to transform Northington Stud and Stables.  We hope that our proposed new venue, which is currently in the planning stages, will enable us to offer a full range of services as a riding school and equestrian centre.  We believe that riding should be a sport that is open to everyone – we’ve seen so many young people and adults come through our yard over the years and we want to see many more get involved with horses and ponies.  We’d love you to help us realise our dream.  You can see what we are planning here.  As clients and friends of Northington Stud and Stables, we’d be delighted if you’d like to add your support to our application.

Anyone wishing to make representations about this application should do so online, or by email: planning@southdowns.gov.uk or in writing to South Downs National Park Authority, South Downs Centre, Midhurst, GU29 9DH, quoting the case reference SDNP/16/05360/FUL by 30th May 2017.

We’re hiring

We’re looking for another member to join our team.  We’re looking for someone who will be able to help us with maintenance of the yard – job description includes driving a tractor, poo picking and mending fences. Salary offered – £10 per hour.

Rent a Pony

As regulars at the yard, you will know that we are passionate about horses and riding and that our aim is to offer the best experience we can for our clients.  We are currently working hard on developing our facilities further and we hope to be able to give you more news on the plans we have for the future of Northington Stud and Stables shortly.  In light of this, we’ve had to make a few changes to our Pony Rental scheme.

We’ve worked on updating the terms and conditions of our Pony Rental scheme, introducing new fee arrangements which reflect the cost of different types of agreement more fairly as well as fair usage arrangements for our horses.  Our new rates will apply to new renters with immediate effect.  Those of you who have signed an existing agreement will be given a grace period of two months.  In any event, the new fees will be applicable from 1st May 2017.

In addition, we have been required to register for VAT and this means that we are now obliged to charge VAT on loan fees.  As you will know, where VAT is paid, it does not benefit us and all VAT fees go straight to HMRC.  VAT will be added to all fee invoices with immediate effect.

With regards to usage, we have made a few changes to rental arrangements and which days our horses may be used too.  There may well be some restrictions on weekend usage when our horses are more in demand.

As a gentle reminder on existing terms and conditions, we would ask that you adhere to these consistently.  This refers to stable management tasks in particular.  It is unfair both to other clients and to yard staff to have to see to these tasks if they are left undone.  We are pleased to say that the majority of our clients are brilliant at getting these jobs done but we would ask that ALL clients ensure that horses and equipment are left in the condition we would all wish to find them in, without fail.

Lastly we want to thank you all for your support and tell you that we really value all our clients and look forward to our continuing relationship with you.  We hope you agree that these new changes will ensure that our Pony Rental represents fairness and consistency for all.

Those of you wishing to discuss arrangements further or talk to Fran about renting a pony, please email NORTHINGTONSTUDANDSTABLES@GMAIL.COM or call on 07970 717093.

There are many gorgeous faces still looking for a lovely rider to rent them.  Why not check our Our  Ponies page to find your pony?

I’m 12h grey and 14yrs old. I’m a super Pony club pony with cheeky temperament. I jump well and am a good lead-rein or second pony as can be strong. AVAILABLE TO RENT

Introducing Lucy and Rufus’ Stable Life

Hi!  My name is Lucy.  You might well have seen me at Northington Stud and Stables.  Francesca (riding instructor and owner of the yard) is my mum so I’m there quite often!

I have a pony called Rufus who I keep at the yard.  He is super sweet and even though he is mine, people still ride him because I don’t mind.

Rufus is 12.hh so quite small but some big people have ridden him.  He used to be a livery owned by a very tall girl called Ruby but she got too big for him and so he was passed on to me.

I love spending time with the stable girls, practising for shows in spring and summer, learning to ride side-saddle, jumping, and lots, lots more!  Fran is AMAZING – she helps me with all my riding.  She sometimes even pays me for helping out!

Pony gossip, showing you how to pick out hooves or groom your pony, plaiting, more about how to look after your pony and telling what I’ve been up to with Rufus, I’ll be sharing lots of things that we do at the yard on here so stay tuned!
