Hello again! This month I am going to tell you all about my day at Sparsholt Horse show. I was a groom for Fran who was riding May and Harriet who was on Sid. It’s hard work being a groom because you do quite a lot of going backwards and forwards getting things, but it is fun.
To get ready for a show, first you have groom the horse. I had to take the travel boots and tail bandage off and put them safely out of the way, brush the tail through and go over their body with a body brush. Then I tacked up the horses whilst the rider got changed. Once the riders and horses were ready, then it was time to go down to the ring to watch, making sure to take the grooming bag down too.
Considering it was May and Sid’s first show, they were brilliant! We came home with lots of rosettes- mostly firsts and seconds. May even came home with Reserve Champion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For those of you who might not know, each show has a championship and at the end, there is a Champion and Reserve Champion. The reserve is the second best horse and rider so Fran and May did REALLY well.
